Armagard recently supplied over 100 LCD enclosures to the new New Delhi Airport Metro Express (DAME) in New Delhi, India. The new metro system, which opened on February 23, 2011 and connects New Delhi’s Metro System to Indira Gandhi International Airport, have had 111 Armagard enclosures installed in the six main metro stations.
While digital signage—the use of screens for out of home for advertising, promotion and branding—is continuing to expand, this is not the only out of home use for modern LCD and plasma screens.
The transport industry has been at the forefront of out of home TV applications having used screens for years to display timetable and passenger information. More and more transport projects are looking to invest in display screens to ensure they are providing a modern and efficient service to customers.
At Armagard, we recently supplied over 100 LCD enclosures to the new New Delhi Airport Metro Express (DAME) in New Delhi, India. The new metro system, which opened on February 23, 2011 and connects New Delhi’s Metro System to Indira Gandhi International Airport, have had 111 Armagard enclosures installed in the six main metro stations.
The LCD enclosures, which protect standard LCD displays and allow them to be used in outdoor and hostile locations, protect the 32” Samsung LCDs being used in the platforms, both underground and above, from varying temperatures, rainfall, moisture, dust and impacts.
The advantages of using LCD screens to relay this information to passengers is fairly obvious as real time information can keep passengers informed of delays and other timetabling information.
And timetabling information is not the only reason screens are being deployed in transport hubs. At London Bridge City Pier ferry terminal on London’s Thames River, news screens have been deployed to supply news and information to travellers as they wait.
Whilst under a roof, the news screens needed to be protected from moisture and cold, as spray from the river, and varying seasonal temperatures could easily disable the displays.
Housed in an Armagard PDS enclosure, the displays are not only waterproof, but the internal temperature of the enclosure is temperature controlled ensuring the optimum conditions for the display.
