Workforce Communication – LCD Enclosures in Industry

LCD screens are a common sight out of the home, used in locations such as shopping malls and transport hubs as information screens and digital signage, the design and efficient nature of using a screen for communication mean they are increasingly being used in all sorts of businesses.
As a communication device, an LCD screen is ideal. Able to display uploaded information in real time, often across networks of dozens of screens, LCD screens provide a clear and visual means of communication. Used in al sorts of businesses and institutions from colleges to warehouses, using a LCD screen network in some industries does pose challenges.
Because of noise levels and the large-scale nature of some sites, communication is difficult in warehouses, factories and other industrial type locations, which is what makes modern LCD screens ideal. Placing screens at strategic locations means that all workers on a sight can be kept informed of the latest news, information or work details, far more effectively than other communication methods.
Some industrial locations, however, require protective measures for screens to prevent them from failing due to environmental conditions. Dust, temperature, liquid presence—such as in washdown locations—not to mention risk of impacts from forklifts and pallet trucks, mean that screens used in industrial locations often require the use of an LCD enclosure.
Dust and Liquid
As with outdoor digital signage, any industrial location where liquids are used near screens means LCD enclosures are required for waterproofing. Even small amounts of liquid such as splashes can disable a screen, so an enclosure ensures total liquid defence. But it’s not just liquids that are capable of disabling a screen in industrial-type locations, dust too—common in many warehouse and distribution areas—is also capable of knocking out a display.
Fortunately, LCD enclosures provide as much defence against dust as they do liquids ensuring no small particulates can penetrate inside the enclosure and clog up the device or cause the screen to overheat.
Temperature
Often in industrial locations, temperatures can be far different from normal ambient. Chillers and freezer locations used for storing food are often just as large as warehouses so still require good internal communications. LCD enclosures can ensure the screens remain at operable temperatures in these locations using heaters and insulation, which prevent freezing and maintains the enclosed LCD at optimum conditions.
Physical Impact
As LCD enclosure are made from steel and can be fitted with shatterproof screens, they provide the ideal physical protection for industrial locations too. Tough, secure and able to cope with heavy shocks and impact they can ensure the screen isn’t disabled through an accident.
